Sponsor a Child in Need: Ciara

FUND IT FORWARD received this letter from her mother:

Hello, I am a single mother of two beautiful girls, Ciara and Grace.

Ciara was a happy healthy baby when she was born, but I started to notice seizure like symptoms when she was 6 months old. We made an appointment for an EEG but the only thing they found was that the left side of her brain was developing slower than her right. When Ciara was around 2-2 ½ I noticed how imaginative she was. But I also started to notice that she was so concerned where her toys were placed and that the rug in front of her bed always had to be straight. She would always go to the rug to straighten it out. I started wondering what was going on.

She started Pre-school and didn't like to go because she didn't feel comfortable around the other kids. She wouldn't join in the activities and always felt like an outsider. Then we started to notice that it was hard for her to make friends at school. Then she started coming home from school and would throw fits where nothing would please her. In second grade she started having issues with Math. Even with help, she has continued to have issues. We took Ciara to a great counselor and he performed several tests. She has been diagnosed with ASD with diagnosis Autism, Math Learning Disorder, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Anxiety and Depression.

Everything makes more sense since having these tests done. Finally in the last two years I have been able to get somewhere with all of this and we are trying to get appointments with specialists that will help her to be able to live as "normal" a life as possible. Her ABA specialists have told me there are some products out there that would help her tremendously. One is an iPad Mini which has several apps that could help her with everyday life with coping mechanisms as well as exercises to help her comprehension. I would love to be able to give my daughter the things she needs to make life a little easier, but I barely make it paying for the basics - rent, car, food and gas.

My daughter is a brilliant beautiful 11 year old girl with some issues and now is going into pre-teenage years with more to handle. We all want our children to be the best they can be and I hope you can help give her what she needs.
